Point Judith Lighthouse and Coast Guard Station by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI Gallery

Over the years, Point Judith has been part of the "chatter" in my life. A radio overhead on a vessel, often in a pilothouse, monitoring 16-FM (also monitoring 13 and 6). Frequent updates came in from "Coast Guard Station Point Judith". Updates from "Coast Guard Station Castle Hill". Even as far away as "Coast Guard Station Woods Hole". This is part of the audible fabric of operating a vessel. The chatter repeated in my ears as we climb about these Point Judith rocks on a summer day.

Despite its quaint size the Coast Guard personnel of this station are responsible for 110 km of coast. If that seems like a big responsibility, it covers Block Island too.
