Rhode Island And Other Places by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI Gallery
One grateful privilege of my life has been to travel the world. Sailing various vessels and in business travel, I have touched all but two continents. Australia and Antarctica remain on the list and I intend to go there.
Displayed we see a few coastal images. In the photos, others invoke the idea of Maine, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard. Coastal areas such as Bar Harbor, Osterville, Lake Tashmoo.
I have been guilty of comparisons in reverse. Whenever traveling to other places, I compare the views to my native Rhode Island. So if I make a comparison to Maine, it's saying how much Maine is like Rhode Island. When I have been in other places, I have attempted to find the feelings of beauty and calm that are found right here.
Mainely Rhode IslandA lobster boat swinging on a mooring as viewed across a small farm meadow. The water calmed by fog and a recent summer rain. It's a typical New England scene where rural farm meets coastal nautical. It's like Maine, but not Maine. It's Rhode Island.

Magnificent NarragansettAfter an evening summer rain, a Catboat swings on a moorning, its cockpit protected by its boom tent. The "cat" is of a Cape Cod Catboat style design. But this is not the West Bay of Osterville, or Cotuit. This scene is Upper Point Judith Pond in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
