Curiosity And Exploration On The Waterfront by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI GalleryUnderneath the pier at the University of Rhode Island's Bay Campus, Narragansett, Rhode Island. (Note: Select photo to see in its portfolio in a larger format).
I have spent a fair amount of my life in places that were public, not forbidden, but often mentally off-limits to most. Those "forbidden" spaces have included the engine rooms of ships (loud spaces). The lazarettes of ships and boats (often the least desirable place on a vessel). Computer server rooms (again, loud with the fans of chillers). The places "behind the scenes". Beneath a pier on the waterfront is not a place that most people will go to. It's not forbidden, but neither is it desirable to most. It is usually a cramped shadowy space. But once there, it's a fascinating place revealing shadows, light, and marine life. The full structure of the pier appears with a wonder of patterns. This is the essence of curiosity and exploration. © Keith R Wahl, Made From RI/Made From RI Gallery, 2021.
