Driftwood Tree And Waves At Matunuck by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI GalleryDriftwood Tree And Waves At Matunuck (Select Image or Title To See In A Larger Format) I once read that the waves are the voice of the tides. It's true. As the winds increase against the tide, the resistance will generate waves. The motion of the earth adds to the action with swells. This is a simplistic explanation but it piques our interest in the waves. But what the wind and tide deposit on the beach attracts the beachcomber and beachgoer. Driftwood in this case. An entire driftwood tree. The bark stripped and every grain raised. Soaked with salt (it would pop with explosive crackles if burned). A fascination deposited on the beach.
