They called it a fog in Kentucky. It was not fogging to us, the Rhode Islanders with a lifetime on the water. We could see through this. No, to us it was not a fog but a mist.

A mist adds texture to a tableau. A fog blots it out. The mist enhances the beauty of a scene for a short while. Then the rising sun will burn it off and the day moves forward.

No, this was a short-term cool blanket that settled on the fields. It dances over the hay as the "mooing" cows graze. It enhances the scene and encourages the pastoral view. And the peace of it all is resounding.
