I love stumbling on something that evokes an image of a pleasant memory. I will preface by knowing that this is not a little brown church. But, it is easy to imagine that it was when Little Hope Missionary Baptist Church was first founded in 1842.

"There's a church in the valley by the wildwood, No lovelier spot in the dale; No place is so dear to my childhood As the little brown church in the vale."

So, we pulled over to see this church. It is of a design and size that brings forward a thoughtful sense of innocence. The thought of a childlike, trusting countenance. It's a place that we long to be and a state that we often desire. And when we find that state in a rushed and frenzied world.

"Come to the church in the wildwood, Oh, come to the church in the vale; No spot is so dear to my childhood As the little brown church in the vale."

For me, it brings me back to a children's choir. My grandfather tapping his knee in the front pew as we sang. Smiling. Nodding. Dearest memories of childhood.

"How sweet on a clear Sunday morning, To list to the clear ringing bell; Its tones so sweetly are calling, Oh, come to the church in the vale."
