Heading south on Route 1, the discussion always takes place, "Which turn do I make?" "Well, the one marked for Theater By The Sea," is the answer. Matunuck Beach Road. Summer's road.

This is summer's road. Well, at least in Rhode Island it is. When one takes the turn around from south to north (always a dicey proposition), you're on the way to summer.

Pass the stone wall and corn, so much corn, along the way. The roads are lined with traditional stone walls. Summer is almost there. Forget the air conditioning and open the windows. Can you smell the salt air?

In the end, a decision comes. Do we go to Theater By The Sea for a show? Or the beach? Either way, it's a good decision. You're on summer's road and you cannot go wrong.
