Dance of Peace In September Clouds by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI Gallery

Twenty years ago, this is how life looked. It was a gorgeous September day. Bright sun, puffy white clouds, low humidity, and a moderate temperature. Perfect walking weather.
Walking was then and remains my past-time. It was something I did to escape work at lunchtime and then with my dog when I came home in the evening. This day and September evening seemed like nothing in the world could be better. If one could pick a day where they could freeze time, this would be the day.
But time moves whether we want it to or not. September 10 of 2001 became September 11. While September 11 was a beautiful weather day, it contained other horrors. None of our lives would ever be the same. If we were not affected by that day, we know someone who was. Tears. Wailing. Loss (even years after the event). They all visited us that day.
So, I choose to take a moment to remember September 10, 2021. I choose to treasure a peaceful moment. A joyful dance that is frozen in a blissful moment. I choose to long for that moment again. And I choose to find images to remind me of that moment before the world changed for us all. It's my way of honoring all of those we lost; to remember and hold to that piece of life before it changed.
