F/V Susan Rose Underway. Photography And Text By Keith R WahlSelect Image or Title To See In A Larger Format - See More Below Going offshore in a fishing boat while often beautiful, is rarely glamorous. Even in moderate seas, one sees the waves running alongside the vessel in the beam sea. The "birds" are in the air lending to stabilization. The waves will challenge the freeboard of the vessel as they ride against the bulwarks. With the decks awash, the water drains out of the scuppers making for problematic footing. In the end, there are days that a bright and cloudy. But even when heading on a westerly course, there is no sunset to ride into.
