Susan Rose Heading OutAn underway fishing vessel heading off into Block Island Sound as a front moves in from the south.

The F/V Susan Rose is heading out as a front moves across Block Island Sound. The water has a deceiving flat view in six-foot swells as the stabilizers are set on the vessel. They will feel the roll nonetheless.

They bound for where the fish are, where the bounty is. They will move through and beyond the front to do their job. They deploy their nets to bring home fish to market.

In a few days' time, they will radio their haul back to shore. The auction house will start playing numbers and setting the market price. Lumpers will prepare to unload.

But the sales will have to wait. First, they need to plot a course around and beyond that front coming in ahead of them.
