I like looking at things in abstraction because it changes my point of view. I am a linear thinker by nature. Science, math, navigation, and computer languages have been a big part of my life.

Looking at rocks under the clear waters of Watchaug Pond changes my perspective. Yes, this involves Physics. To be specific, optics. We see reflection and refraction at work in this case. The reflection gives us phenomenal color in the stones and brightens the scene. Refraction gives us ripples and variations of light; the painted effect.

In the end, it is science that gives us our impressions. But it is our minds that give us interpretation. Combined, the perception is beautiful no matter how we look at the scene. But we need to take the time to take notice.
