The Lighthouse Keeper's Watch 20221209 850_6055The Lighthouse Keeper's WatchOn a cold, windy, and bright early afternoon, a gull at Conimicut Point keepa watch over the lighthouse in the background where Narragansett Bay meets the Providence River.

There is always that one gull. The one who stands watch, even on a cold and windy day. The one that keeps their eye on you as you walk by.

This particular gull had an interest in my observations of Conimicut Lighthouse. No matter where I moved, this gull insisted on being between me and my view of the lighthouse.

Now we could say that this gull was Conimicut's Lighthouse Keeper pro tem. It is far more probable that the gull was aware that it was lunchtime and was seeing if I would drop a morsel of food. That would be my theory.
