Storm Waves Upon Sands. Photography And Text By Keith R WahlSelect Image or Title To See In A Larger Format What does an old salt when not on a vessel of some sort do in a storm? The answer is simple; go to the beach. We need places to observe the winds, the currents, the waves, and the clouds. We need places to read and speculate about the weather. We need to observe so that we are able to assemble our predictions. Beyond the thinking about and prognostication there is something more. There is the observation of and respect for the beauty in the raw power present. We need to hear the wind howl and the waves roar. And then, when we are past the power of the storm, we understand the beauty of what we see. The patterns in the movement of the clouds. The designs of the waves on the sand. In some cases, the designs become permanents as the sands erode in places and pile up in others. This is the life of people who live by the great waters and appreciate the wonders of the deep.
