Seeing Each Other. Photography and Text by Keith R WahlSelect Image or Title to See in a Larger Format We meet face to face. A squirrel running branch to branch and tree to tree meets my eye. We both stare at one another, curious about what we are both doing in that spot at that time. We understand one another. The key to observing nature is not to disturb nature. You have to mimic the actions of the subject and move in a non-threatening manner. Slow, deliberate movements are the key. You don't want to trigger "fight or flee" adrenal response in the subject. You want the squirrel to be as calm as you are. And for this, I am rewarded with a pleasant look from the squirrel in the branches.
