Spring Ferns. Photography and Text by Keith R WahlSelect Image or Title to See in a Larger Format - See More Below
As spring comes to life, the ground becomes wet with morning dew. There is a combination of temperature changes and the dew point. This creates a subtle precipitate that covers the flowers, grasses and growing plants. Our feet become moist in the morning outdoor stroll, but it also causes all forms of greenery to arise with life. This miracle of morning dew feeds the unfurling fronds of the fern. The fern being one of the earliest forms of plant life on earth, knows what it is doing. It has been performing in this cycle every spring for eons. It leads the way for other forms of plant life. Soon, this fern will spread out with its many fronds and cover the ground. But as we see it here, it is small, curled up, and capturing life-giving morning dew.
