Always Working. Photography and Text by Keith R WahlSelect Image or Title to See in a Larger Format Preparing for a season and in-season, there is one thing that fishing charter boat skippers do. They work. This is the season where they make their money, so they work. Everything needs to be right for their customers. During the day and on the water, these skippers are among the most amiable people you could meet. They love what they do, and it takes a certain personality to interact with their passengers. Most of all, they love being on the water and fishing. After hours, these skippers are all business. They are cleaning their boats and getting them ready for the next day. Here, we see the plywood on the dock astern of the blue lobster style vessel are pieces of plywood. These will become a culling board (looking at the configuration). They will sleep during the next winter. That is when they are not preparing for the next fishing season.
