Ericka's Shadow 20220619 850_8942Ericka's ShadowShadows cast upon a lobster boat in Snug Harbor as the sun becomes low in the sky.

The days on the waterfront never seem to end. They start early and end late. And the sun seems to emphasize this elongation in unusual and fascinating ways. In Snug Harbor, a Rhode Island fishing village, there is emphasis of this point.

In a wonderful working corner, there is a lobster boat tied up. The traps are alongside. To the east is Galilee. And the late day sun stretches the scene in every conceivable manner. The shadows are cast over the vessel itself as the sun reaches the after points of the boat. The shadows of the lobster traps stretch beyond the traps themselves. And the boat and spiles become elongated in their reflections.

Life and days on the waterfront are as long in their labor as their visuals. And like anyone who has worked on the water, the days stretch until the work is complete.
