Full Strawberry Supermoon 14 June 2022. Photography and Test by Keith R WahlFull Strawberry Supermoon 14 June 2022 Select Image or Title to See in a Larger Format The Full Moon of 14 June 2022 is the year's second supermoon. A supermoon is then the moon's orbit is closest to Earth, which presents a larger, brighter full moon. The most common definition of a supermoon is a full Moon that is a distance of at least 90% of perigee. Perigee is the point where the Moon is closest to Earth. In this case, it is 222,238.4 miles (357,658 km) away. The photo is at a point 363,802.74 km (still within a comfortable distance to call it a full Moon). June’s full Moon is the last full Moon of spring. This is the traditional "Strawberry Moon". The reddish tinge to the appearance of the Moon, in this case, has nothing to do with Strawberries. The color is due to being closest to the horizon. At this point, light rays must pass through the densest layers of the atmosphere. Almanac Information: Phase: Full Strawberry Supermoon 14 June 2022
