High Tides and Point Judith. Photography and Text by Keith R WahlSelect Image or Title to See in a Larger Format We come to the beach in the evening because it is its own world. The evening character of the beach transforms to calm, serene, and contemplative. Even the atmospheric colors become calming and contemplative. This is a place to relax and even philosophize. A place to unwind. The high tide kisses the lifeguard chair, and there are the remains of a castle at its feet. Clouds gather as the sun recedes. In the distance, Point Judith Lighthouse signals boats and ships. Looking out on to the ocean, one understands how the Narragansett peoples see this as sacred space. One definitely feels connected to something larger in this place.
