The phrase "... at the end of the day..." has become one whose usage I take umbrage with. It has become oveused and cliche. And as such, it compromises a wonderful phrase. The meaning has been co-opted by business and bottom lining spreadsheets. The phrase has lost its philosophical meaning in the process.

A sunset on the water, to me, is what "the end of the day" should be about. As the sun sets over islands and boats, the beauty reveals itself in full. In gradual but continual progression, light reduces. In each reduction, it reveals the most beautiful and precious of the illuminated. At the end, in shadow and color, the veracity of what matters reveals itself. Those revelations carry into the next day as treasures from the day before.
