Maximal Minimalism on the Water. Photography and Text by Keith R WahlShapes and variations in color both stupefy and soothe... Select Image or Title to See in a Larger Format - See More Below We are living in an age where minimalism becomes a point of contemplation and necessity. Prices have gone up and people are considering how much they need. Weekly budgets contain decisions on buying chocolate chips for cookies will occur. Minimalism, and its close cousin austerity, has become a part of our lives. In the Ocean State, we sometimes find that some needs are few. This is especially true in the summer. I sometimes find myself down by the water at sunset. I find pleasant moments dangling my feet off the pier as I sit looking at the water as the sun sets. The fact is that the view is not all that minimalist at all. There is a complexity of structure. Ripples of water ride upon waves. Light reflects and refracts in a multitude of angles. The array of shapes and variations in color both stupefy and soothe the mind in the same moment. And for those moments, it is enough.
