Changes On the Fly. Photography and Text by Keith R WahlGone are the birds that were our summer guests Early Morning Cormorant Flight Select Image or Title to See in a Larger Format - See More Below As the morning comes in the sun's rise in the west, it is plain that things are changing. The morning changes as the light appears. The light is different. It is becoming golden red and pinkish hues are appearing. Late August is in the air. We are now clinging to our last signs of Summer and enumerating our first signs of Fall. And not the least of these is the unusual sight of Cormorants in a "V" formation flying overhead. As the birds approach from the east, the hues are definitely not summer-like. No, the red-orange coloring is definitely the color scheme of Autumn. But as the birds continue overhead and angle to the west, the pinks and blues appear in the morning sunlight. Summer has asserted itself... for now. But there are changes on the fly. “Gone are the birds that were our summer guests.” ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
