Evening Storm View. Photography and Text by Keith R WahlDo we observe the storm, or does it observe us? Select Image or Title to See in a Larger Format - See More Below Evening Storm Front Progression We live in with a coastline in Rhode Island that is New England Classic. It covers many miles, has ample access, and never ceases to amaze with its views. Not all Rhode Island beach views are sunrises, sunsets, or sunny days. Sometimes storms move through. The wonder of these storms, no matter how brief, is that one sees them approaching. When this occurs, we see the clouds, the sun, the rain, the clouds, and the waves all at the same moment. Even the water changes from smooth and reflective to tiny ripples in the shallows in seconds. On this late summer evening as we walk the beach, we have such a storm move through. We are far north on Scarborough State Beach in Narragansett and see the approach. There is rain somewhere to the south over the Point Judith Harbor of Refuge as the sun begins its descent. There is a sudden breach in the edge of the front. The circulating air above forms an eye near the front's edge and the sun tries to peek through. And the contemplation of the term eye occurs and consider who is watching whom. Either way, we realize that it is a moment to remember.
