Appreciation of Marsh Sunsets. Photography and Text by Keith R WahlScenes paint themselves on the marsh Select Image or Title to See in a Larger Format - See More Below When considering sunsets, the mind leaps to thoughts of beaches, meadows, and mountains. But have we considered some of their landscape "cousins" like the marsh. The marsh is that place inside of beaches where coves form. They play a vital ecological asset. But we are examining their aesthetics for the moment. From an artistic view, they provide optical variation. They have multiples of contrasting colors. We see greens and blues juxtaposed against reds, yellows and oranges. The air itself amplifies these images at sunset as it is full of vapor and life. Visually, the sky gives the sensual impression of melting. The marsh remains one of the lesser explored areas. But that is okay as it leaves people like me opportunities to explore and reveal them. But for now, I am going to sit back and enjoy the sunset and promise that there is more to come.
