The Hyacinth Macaw can be interesting for its many features.  It is an intelligent bird, capable of learning speech. In some cases, they even learn to contextualize words. These Macaws also have very long lifespans, reaching 50-60 years old.  They also use their powerful beaks to find food and are able to use it to crack open a coconut.

This particular Macaw is in the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island.  There are two in this zoo, and they are always found playing on branches and having fun. In these photos the Macaws are doing what they would do in the wild, jumping from branch to branch and having fun. As a result, their quality of life is not affected by living in captivity.
