The Crusty Bottle

On a pier where fishermen cast their lines,
A crusty old bottle, its stories in time.
Placed by a stranger, its purpose unknown,
Yet its tales of adventure, the bottle has shown.

From the depths of the lake, it may have been tossed,
Carried by currents, its journey uncrossed.
Or perhaps from a boat, it was cast away,
A message in time, to a distant day.

What stories could the bottle tell,
Of the secrets it holds, that time has so well?
Of storms that it weathered, and waves it has braved,
Of boats it has passed, and shores it has waved.

Of the people who held it, and the hands it has passed,
Of the dreams they once dreamed, and the moments amassed.
Of love and of loss, of laughter and tears,
Of the joys and the sorrows, of all the past years.

Now on the pier, it rests in the fall,
As the leaves turn to crimson, and the shadows grow tall.
A witness to nature, its beauty and change,
A silent observer, through time's sweet range.

So as you pass by, take a moment to pause,
Reflect on the bottle, and its timeless cause.
For in its weathered glass, a story we find,
Of life's journey, and the lessons it binds.
