Where Waters Flow

Silver Spring Lake's water flows,
Over dam, down river goes.
Mills once turned by power's might,
Now silent in the fading light.

From Silver Spring Lake Down the Mattatuxet

The water flows from Silver Spring,
A crystal clear and sparkling thing.
It overleaps the low stone dam,
And down the Mattatuxet swam.

Where once the mills were powered by
The force of its relentless flow,
Now nature's beauty greets the eye,
As down the river it doth go.

Through meadows green and forests deep,
The Mattatuxet winds its way.
And all along its banks we keep
The memory of yesterday.

When industry was in its prime,
And waterwheels were spinning fast,
The Mattatuxet turned the time,
And made the wheels of progress last.

But now the mills are quiet and still,
And nature's peace has found its place.
The Mattatuxet flows with will,
And leaves behind its mark of grace.

So let us raise a praise to thee,
O Mattatuxet, river fair.
May your waters ever be,
A symbol of the past we share.
