This is especially true of the gunkholes of Narragansett Bay such as Bissel Cove. The grasses and rocks appear from the water, the peninsulas and islands stand proud, and the boats change their views on their moorings. The clouds above shade the sun and the breeze causes the grass to rustle in a way that it cannot in the water.

Gunkholes hold a certain magic because they change attitudes. These are places that we don't approach full throttle. No, we ease in with caution and observation. This gives us the opportunity observe the bottom contours, the quality of the water, and nearby shores and islands. This is an introduction to slowing down and the rewards found in the change of venue.
