Partially BuriedIt is not unusual to find a clam shell partly covered in sand when beachcombing. It often has the appearance of emerging from the sand, but this is often not the case. Rather it is the wind, passing humans, passing animals, and the surf. These have started the burial process, then the same things shift and unbury the shell. The process is all part of the dynamics of the beach.
