Eddy's Overlook. Photography & Text by Keith R WahlPreserving and remembering Early Evening at Eddy's Overlook I came to this place on the Narrow River on this evening because I knew that history in the location is about to change. This location has been the home of a paddling business for many years. I don't know of a new tenant, and I do know that the business that was here will survive. But it will all be different, and that is what matters in this captured moment. Many people have come here to kayak and paddleboard. For some, it was something new that they either took to or chalked up to experience. For others, they came back again and again, making a core of their waterborne activity. In the midst of it all is a roughhewn sign beneath a tangle of branches calling itself a tree. Its simple proclamation on the border of a wildlife refuge is "Eddy's Overlook". With all the change that is occurring, that is a sign to respect and appreciate. Eddy has good taste, because the sunset view is spectacular. And in the midst of the change that is happening, this scene needs to be preserved and remembered. Because when we preserve and remember, we also respect all those special memories from this place.
