Good Morning, Moon! Photography & Text by Keith R WahlA good time to observe Last Quarter Moon 9 August 20323 It's Wednesday, August 9, 2023, and the Moon is in its Last Quarter phase. This means that the Moon is half-lit, with the right side illuminated and the left side dark. The Moon's illumination is 49%, and it is 22.21 days old. The Moon is currently 380,660.47 kilometers from Earth, and the Sun is 151,681,166.02 kilometers from Earth. The Last Quarter Moon is a good time to observe the stars and planets, as the Moon is not too bright and will not wash out the fainter objects in the sky. Tonight, you can look for Jupiter and the Pleiades star cluster near the Moon in the southeastern sky before dawn. We hope you have a wonderful day, Moon!
