Muntjac Deer at Roger Williams Park Zoo. Photography & Text by Keith R WahlA symbol of hope in a Providence zoo The Muntjac Deer at Roger Williams Park Zoo is a symbol of hope for the future of this endangered species. Muntjacs are the smallest deer in the world, and they are native to Asia. They are threatened by habitat loss and hunting, and their numbers have declined dramatically in recent years. Roger Williams Park Zoo also educates the public about Muntjacs and the threats they face. The zoo offers educational programs for children and adults, and they also have a website that provides information about Muntjacs. The Muntjac deer at Roger Williams Park Zoo are a symbol of hope for the future of this endangered species. Through their educational efforts, the zoo is helping to ensure that Muntjacs will continue to exist for generations to come.
Note: This is written with the help of my high school-aged son, Jonathan, who spends his summers (and other times of the year) working with the campers in Roger Williams Park Zoo "ZooCamp" program.
