In early July, we found ourselves on the campus of Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). Our oldest son, Jason, had spent the previous week as a recruited participant in the National Youth Leadership Forum: Engineering. As we waited for him to check out of the dorm that he inhabited in the previous week, my wife, his brother, and I wandered the campus. 

The Georgia Tech campus is a true marvel. I have spent a bit of time at urban campuses, but this one surprised me. It is an oasis in an urban environment, completely unto its own. There is a palpable change of mood as one crosses the street from the parking garage and through the brick arch on to the campus grounds. Then, in the courtyard, we encountered meticulously cultivated flowers. It was bright and cheerful.
