Photography & Text by Keith R WahlA reminder of the vastness of the universe Waxing Gibbous Moon Hanging in Space 26 August 2023 The moon is a beautiful and ever-changing sight in the night sky. On August 26, 2023, the moon was in its Waxing Gibbous phase, meaning that it will be more than half illuminated. The moon rose in the east in the afternoon and was high in the sky at sunset. This particular Waxing Gibbous Moon was remarkable because it will be hanging in space with thready clouds in the atmosphere. The clouds were thin and wispy, and they created a beautiful contrast against the bright moon. Here are some of the feelings that the Waxing Gibbous Moon can evoke:
No matter how you feel about the moon, there is no denying that it is a beautiful sight.
