Wickford Village Street Seating. Photography & Text by Keith R WahlA standard for New England village life Wickford Village Street Seating
Wickford, in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, becomes a part of you. I grew up coming to this place from the late 1960's onward. It was the short jaunt on a boat on a Sunday afternoon or a visit to a boatyard in winter. The best was when it was a boat camping trip and we would walk into town to the diner for breakfast. Wickford became so much a part of my psyche that I once bought a house in Essex, Connecticut. I was working in Connecticut and New York. Wickford was my standard or yard stick of village life. Now our sons are in high school nearby. I hear our oldest speak about how he and his friends want to go to Wickford in their time off. He rides his bike through there. It is evidence that quaint little Wickford becomes a standard for New England Village life for some of us.
