Reflections and Impressions

Reflections and Impressions 02 20240218 850_9444_display-1Reflections and Impressions 02 20240218 850_9444_display-1Reflections on the Annaquatucket River in Ryan Park, North Kingstown, Rhode Island

Hark, a wintry tale the river tells,
Where Annaquatucket gently swells.
No ice doth bind, its current flows,
A mirror bright, where beauty shows.

The trees, once stark, in winter's might,
Now dance in shadows, soft and light.
Their branches etched in silvered gleam,
An impressionist's forgotten dream.

The water whispers, secrets keep,
Of snow-kissed banks and slumber deep.
The world reflected, upside down,
A fleeting glimpse, where truths are found.

So heed this proverb, etched in frost,
That passing moments, swiftly lost,
Leave trails of beauty, clear and bright,
In mirrored depths, where shadows light.

For though the snow may melt away,
And winter's grip begin to sway,
The memory lingers, ever true,
A reflection whispered, just for you.
